Abstract: Provided in the present application are an image display method, and an apparatus. The method comprises: acquiring a double-layer code stream comprising first coded data, second coded data and metadata, the first coded data being used for representing a basic image, and the second coded data being used for representing an enhanced image; on the basis of the first coded data and the second coded data, acquiring the basic image and the enhanced image; merging the basic image and the enhanced image so as to obtain a composite image; performing tone mapping on the composite image on the basis of first tone mapping information, so as to obtain a first target image, the first tone mapping information being determined on the basis of the metadata and first display information of an electronic device; and displaying the first target image. Thus, provided is the image display method suitable for a double-layer code stream, which can determine, on the basis of display information of an electronic device, tone mapping information suitable for the current display capability of the electronic device, so as to obtain a target image satisfying the current display requirement of the electronic device, thereby improving the display effect of the electronic device, and improving the visual experience of users.
