Abstract: Provided is an image display device. The image display device includes a display operation unit that displays a predetermined image and receives touch information associated with a touch element, and a control unit that controls the display of the predetermined image. A layer including a plurality of pixels is laminated below the surface of the display operation unit. When the touch element comes into contact with the surface of the display operation unit, the control unit determines the type of the touch element on the basis of the area of overlapped pixels that are overlapped by the touch element, among the plurality of pixels, the area being calculated from the touch information of the overlapped pixels. Thus, when the touch element comes into contact with the screen, it is possible to determine the type of the touch element.
