Abstract: ABSTRACT HYDRONIC CHILLER SYSTEM AND CONTROL METHOD FOR SIMULTANEOUS HEATING AND COOLING A hydronic HVAC system and method for generating chilled water and hot water in a common refrigerant circuit. The system includes a compressor (3), first and second refrigerant-to-water heat exchanger (5)s, an air-cooled finned coil (4), at least one fan, a liquid receiver (8), at least one expansion device including an electronic expansion valve, a valve manifold including a 4-way reversing valve and solenoid valves, and a programmable logic controller. In simultaneous mode, the first refrigerant-to-water heat exchanger (7) operates as an evaporator, and the second refrigerant-to-water heat exchanger (5) operates as a condenser. When hot-water demand is satisfied, refrigerant is routed to the air-cooled finned coil (4) as a condenser. When chilled-water demand is satisfied, refrigerant feed to the first refrigerant-to-water heat exchanger (7) is stopped and the air-cooled finned coil (4) operates as an evaporator. The system provides refrigerant reconfiguration and stable operation under unequal loads. Ref: Fig. 1
