Abstract: ABSTRACT HYBRID SYSTEM FOR BIOGAS AND METABOLITE RECOVERY FROM FECAL MATTER A method (100) for processing human fecal matter comprises receiving and pre-conditioning human fecal matter (102), performing health-status analysis (104) comprising comparative characterization of fecal samples from healthy individuals and individuals affected by disease conditions, segregating (106) the pre-conditioned fecal matter into a metabolite-rich fraction and an energy- dense fraction based on segregation parameters determined from the health-status analysis, recovering (108) microbial metabolites from the metabolite-rich fraction using a non-destructive recovery technique, and anaerobically digesting (110) the energy-dense fraction to produce methane-rich biogas. The recovering (108) and the anaerobically digesting (110) are performed concurrently and independently. (Fig. 1)
