Abstract: HYBRID SSA-EHO FRAMEWORK FOR ENERGY-EFFICIENT CLUSTERING AND ROUTING IN UNDERWATER WIRELESS SENSOR NETWORKS The present invention relates to a hybrid SSA-EHO framework for energy-efficient clustering and routing in underwater wireless sensor networks (UWSNs). The framework deploys sensor nodes in a three-dimensional underwater environment and generates network topology information using node coordinates and residual energy values. A Squirrel Search Algorithm (SSA) is utilized for adaptive cluster-head selection based on residual energy, distance to a surface sink, and neighbourhood node density. Elephant Herding Optimization (EHO) is further utilized for establishing fault-tolerant multi-hop routing paths between cluster heads and the surface sink using relay node energy, hop distance, and hop count. The integrated SSA-EHO framework operates under underwater acoustic attenuation and propagation constraints for reducing energy consumption and improving network lifetime. The framework further performs dynamic reclustering and rerouting based on updated residual node energy for mitigating hot-spot formation and delaying node failure. [Figure 1]
