Inventors include A Felix Sahaya Raj; Kumaraguru J; Sharan J N; and Prabhakaran M.
The application for the patent was published on September 25, 2026, under issue no. 39/2026.
Abstract: The present invention relates to a lightweight fan blade manufactured from a hybrid natural fiber reinforced epoxy composite comprising sisal fiber and banana fiber. The fan blade incorporates a controlled hybrid fiber architecture within an epoxy matrix to provide an improved combination of tensile strength, flexural stiffness, impact resistance, vibration resistance and reduced weight. Sisal and banana fibers are arranged in predetermined proportions, orientations and stacking sequences according to the aerodynamic and mechanical requirements of the fan blade. The fibers may be surface treated to improve fiber–matrix adhesion and reduce moisture sensitivity. The composite fan blade may be fabricated by hand lay-up, compression molding, resin transfer molding or vacuum-assisted molding. The invention is suitable for industrial, domestic, ventilation, cooling and other rotating fan systems.
