MUMBAI, India, June 30 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202641075433 A) filed by Vellore Institute Of Technology on June 18, 2026, for Hybrid Quantum-Assisted Traffic Detection And Risk Assessment System.

Inventors include Knivitha; and Karthik K.

The application for the patent was published on June 26, 2026, under issue no. 26/2026.

Abstract: ABSTRACT HYBRID QUANTUM-ASSISTED TRAFFIC DETECTION AND RISK ASSESSMENT SYSTEM A hybrid quantum-assisted traffic detection and risk assessment system (100) comprises a data acquisition module (110) receiving traffic video data from surveillance sources, and a preprocessing module (120) performing frame extraction, resizing, and normalization to generate preprocessed frames. An object detection module (130) comprising a region-based convolutional neural network detects traffic entities and generates region proposals with associated bounding boxes and confidence scores. A feature extraction module (140) extracts traffic-related parameters comprising object distance, relative velocity, traffic density, and environmental context. A quantum-assisted optimization module (150) receives feature vectors corresponding to the traffic-related parameters, encodes the feature vectors using a Quantum Approximate Optimization Algorithm (QAOA), and ranks and filters the region proposals to identify high-priority traffic entities based on contextual and behavioral characteristics. A dynamic risk assessment engine (160) computes adaptive risk scores for the high-priority traffic entities based on weighted traffic parameters.
