Abstract: The present invention relates to the development of the ever-rising request for a solution to complex, high-dimensional optimization problems cause a scaling barrier to classical hardware. In recent times, a new architecture called Hybrid Quantum-Classical Computing (HQCC) has been proposed to harness the powers of both classical computing and quantum computing. The new architecture seeks to combine the powers of Quantum Approximate Optimization Algorithms (QAOA) or Variational Quantum Eigen solvers (VQE) with the powers of classical optimizers to overcome the challenge of decoherence presently being witnessed in current Noisy Intermediate Scale Quantum computers. The approach relies on a feedback loop in which the quantum computer calculates cost functions within a vast Hilbert space, and a classical part adjusts strings of parameters to effectively traverse the landscape. Analysis has shown that a joint effort of the methods produces a significantly faster convergence rate and quality of solution to a vast number of complex combinatorial problems related to logistics route optimization and financial applications. HQCC appears to be a viable route to a quantum advantage. FIG.1
