MUMBAI, India, Sept. 22 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202611092491 A) filed by Chandigarh University on July 30, 2026, for Hybrid Physics-Ai Battery Management System For Predictive Adaptive Fast Charging.
Inventors include Bukkapatnam Sai Goutham; Kalash Singh; Rakesh Kumar; and Paurav Goel.
The application for the patent was published on September 18, 2026, under issue no. 38/2026.
Abstract: The present invention relates to an artificial intelligence (AI)-powered Battery Management System (BMS) for electric vehicles and renewable energy storage systems, configured to optimize battery charging, safety, and lifespan under varying environmental conditions. The system integrates voltage, current, and temperature sensors with a hybrid AI decision module comprising a rule-based expert system, a fuzzy logic controller, and a neural network for real-time estimation of battery State of Charge (SOC), State of Health (SOH), and internal operating conditions. Sensor data are pre-processed and analysed to dynamically regulate charging current, thermal management components, heaters, coolers, contactors, and relays. The adaptive control strategy predicts battery degradation risks, including lithium plating during low- temperature fast charging, and automatically modifies charging parameters to maintain optimal operating conditions. The invention improves charging efficiency, enhances operational safety, reduces battery degradation, extends service life, and supports intelligent communication with external monitoring and cloud-based diagnostic systems.
