MUMBAI, India, Nov. 2 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202641124108 A) filed by Suma Shivali Rai S T; Senthil Kumar S; and Dr. M. V. V. Thirumuruga Poiyamozhi on October 16, 2026, for Hybrid Optimized Stiffened Cold-Formed Steel Sections And Forming Methods.

Inventor includes Suma Shivali Rai S T.

The application for the patent was published on October 30, 2026, under issue no. 44/2026.

Abstract: A cold-formed steel structural member (100) and a method (200) of forming the structural member (100) are provided. The structural member (100) includes a single continuous thin-walled sheet (102) formed into a cross-section having a longitudinal flange region (104), a folded main web region (106), intermediate longitudinal web stiffening folds (108), and terminal lip stiffener regions (110). The inclined or trapezoidal flange-web transition rigidifies the longitudinal flange region (104), the folded web profile and stiffening folds (108) reduce an effective flat width of the folded main web region (106), and the terminal lip stiffener regions (110) restrain torsional rotation. The method (200) may include roll-forming or press-braking the sheet (102) at ambient temperature so the stiffening features are integrally formed while preserving a constant base thickness.
