MUMBAI, India, Sept. 22 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202641106020 A) filed by Saveetha Institute Of Medical And Technical Sciences on September 03, 2026, for Hybrid Machine Learning-Based Apparatus For Differentiating Healthy And Diseased Brain Tissues.

Inventors include Dr. V. Sheeja Kumari; and Dr Ramya Mohan.

The application for the patent was published on September 18, 2026, under issue no. 38/2026.

Abstract: The present invention relates to a hybrid machine learning-based apparatus for automated differentiation of healthy and diseased brain tissues using magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) scans. The apparatus integrates image preprocessing, feature extraction, hybrid machine learning classification, and visualization modules to detect abnormalities in brain tissues such as tumors, lesions, edema, and other pathological regions. MRI images are first subjected to preprocessing techniques including noise reduction, normalization, and skull stripping. Subsequently, relevant spatial, texture, and intensity-based features are extracted using hybrid feature extraction algorithms. These features are then processed by a hybrid machine learning model combining deep learning and classical classifiers to accurately distinguish between normal and abnormal brain tissues. The system generates segmented disease regions and diagnostic decision outputs with improved accuracy and reduced false positives. The apparatus provides an efficient, automated diagnostic support tool for radiologists and medical practitioners, enabling early detection and improved clinical decision making.
