Abstract: ABSTRACT The present invention relates to an AI-based surveillance system (100) employing Electro-Optical (EO) and Infrared (IR) sensor fusion for adaptive intelligent surveillance. The system comprises edge devices (101) including an EO camera (102), an IR camera (103), an EO-IR alignment and fusion module (104), an adaptive change detection module (105), a predictive tracking module (106), a usefulness-score computation module (107), and a selective transmission module (108). The system performs EO-IR image fusion, adaptive environmental change detection, Kalman filter-based predictive object tracking, usefulness-score based surveillance prioritization, and selective transmission of surveillance information. A local gateway (109) and cloud analytics layer (112) enable predictive multi-camera handover, anomaly analysis, and adaptive surveillance optimization. The invention reduces communication bandwidth utilization, storage overhead, cloud-side computational burden, and tracking discontinuity while improving surveillance robustness under varying environmental and visibility conditions.
