MUMBAI, India, June 26 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202641007199 A) filed by Maithri Aquatech Private Limited on January 24, 2026, for Hybrid Atmospheric Water Harvesting System And Method For Harvesting Water From Ambient Air Thereof.
Inventors include Ramakrishna, Mukkavilli; and Shyamsunder, Tiniam Mani.
The application for the patent was published on June 19, 2026, under issue no. 25/2026.
Abstract: The present disclosure relates to a hybrid atmospheric water harvesting system for continuous extraction of potable water from ambient air under varying climatic conditions. The system integrates desiccant-based moisture adsorption with a vapor compression refrigeration cycle to enhance water yield and energy efficiency, particularly under low relative humidity conditions. Multiple desiccant beds are configured to operate simultaneously in adsorption and regeneration modes, enabling uninterrupted water production. Waste heat generated from the condenser of the refrigeration cycle is recovered and utilized for desiccant regeneration, thereby eliminating the need for external heating sources. Moisture released during regeneration is condensed using the refrigeration system to produce liquid water for collection. The system is compact, modular, and automatically controlled, making it suitable for decentralized, residential, community, and commercial applications in water-scarce regions.
