The application for the patent was published on September 25, 2026, under issue no. 39/2026.

Abstract: A hybrid aluminium metal matrix composite comprises an LM30 aluminium alloy matrix reinforced with silicon carbide particles (8-12 wt.%), mullite particles (8-12 wt.%), and tungsten disulphide particles (1-5 wt.%). The silicon carbide provides increased hardness and load-bearing capability, the mullite improves thermal stability and structural integrity, and the tungsten disulphide acts as a solid lubricant forming a protective tribofilm at the sliding interface during operation. The composite is fabricated via stir casting wherein reinforcement particles are preheated to 200-400°C and incorporated into molten aluminium at 700-800°C using vortex-assisted mixing at 300-600 rpm for 10-20 minutes, ensuring uniform distribution and strong interfacial bonding. The composite exhibits enhanced tribological performance with coefficient of friction below 0.16 and wear loss less than 15 microns under dry sliding conditions. Applications include automotive, aerospace, defense, and industrial machinery components requiring high wear resistance and reduced friction.
