Abstract: Abstract Disclosed is a hybrid adaptive traffic control system for regulating vehicle movement at a traffic intersection. The system comprises an image-capturing unit positioned to capture live image data of multiple traffic lanes and a server arrangement communicatively coupled to the image-capturing unit. The server arrangement receives and processes the live image data to detect vehicles, determine lane-wise vehicle count data, analyse lane-wise traffic density data, and generate traffic signal timing data. A traffic signal assembly is operatively coupled to the server arrangement and operates red, yellow, and green signal lights according to the traffic signal timing data. A passage-control unit is positioned along at least one traffic lane and is movable, based on signal operation, between an open position permitting vehicle passage during green signal operation and a blocking position restricting vehicle passage during red signal operation.
