MUMBAI, India, Sept. 28 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202647110906 A) filed by Cranfield University on September 16, 2026, for Human Waste Processing Apparatus.

Inventors include Williams, Leon Brett; and Collins, Matthew Spencer.

The application for the patent was published on September 25, 2026, under issue no. 39/2026.

Abstract: Human waste processing apparatus configured for the pyrolysis and preferably torrefaction processing of human waste biomass. A liquid based emission scrubber unit is coupled to at least one pyrolysis/torrefaction heating unit. An optional recirculation assembly provides recirculation through the pyrolysis/torrefaction unit to provide recirculated stepwise heating of waste via incremental heating stages. Predominantly solid waste is treated via a final stage heat treatment process prior to deposition as char for collection and/or subsequent disposal. Processing of biomass gases is achieved via dispensing gas emissions directly into a scrubbing liquid contained within a scrubber tank. Transport of the waste through the apparatus is achieved via one or a plurality of helical screw conveyors.
