MUMBAI, India, Sept. 22 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202611088565 A) filed by K. R. Mangalam University on July 21, 2026, for Hook-Guided Self-Threading Needle Having A Clad Multi-Metal Body.

Abstract: A self-threading sewing needle (100) has a shaft (20) with a pointed penetrating end (10) and a head portion (22) carrying an eye (30) bounded by a closed rim (32). A resiliently deflectable hook member (40) stands within the eye (30), with its recurved free end (44) spaced from the rim (32) to define a thread-entry mouth (42) narrower than the eye (30). A thread (70) laid across a ramp (50) is collected in the concave throat (46); tensioning the thread (70) deflects the recurved free end (44) so that it enters the eye (30) through the mouth (42), being retained on elastic return. No tool or visual alignment is needed and the rim (32) is not slotted. The body has a steel core (60), an intermediate layer (64) and an outer micro-coating (62).
