Abstract: A home assistance system (100) for hearing and speech impaired users includes a wearable device (102) to generate haptic alerts, and user-actuatable inputs; an image acquisition unit (110) positioned a door near an entrance of a building to capture images of visitors standing at door; a face recognition unit (112) to generate facial embeddings from captured images and compare generated facial embeddings with pre-stored identity of facial embeddings to classify visitors as recognized or unrecognized; a sensor (114) positioned on building to detect ambient environmental conditions exceeding a threshold; and a processor (116) transmits visitor classification information from face recognition unit (112) to wearable device (102) to display a visual notification and generates a haptic alert pattern in response to visitor classification information or environmental conditions exceeding threshold. The processor (116) causes the visitor-facing display to display a predefined message to a visitor upon actuation of the user-actuatable input.
