MUMBAI, India, July 31 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202411096330 A) filed by Mercedes-Benz Group AG on December 06, 2024, for High Voltage Connector Assembly For Electric Vehicles.

Inventors include Satish Dharpure; and Amit Kumar.

The application for the patent was published on July 24, 2026, under issue no. 30/2026.

Abstract: A system (100) for decoupling a High Voltage (HV) connector assembly (102) for an electric vehicle that ensures safe decoupling of HV connectors (104, 108) during routine service, repair, and emergency situations includes a male connector (104) and a female connector (108) with voltage terminals for transmitting electric power. A lock assembly (112) with a hydraulic piston assembly (118) controlled by a pump (120) ensures secure locking and unlocking of the HV connectors (104, 108). The system is governed by a controller (132) connected to a Battery Management System (BMS) (134), which monitors voltage levels. Automatic unlocking occurs when the system (100) voltage falls below 25V, with a 5-minute delay for safety. In case of a low-voltage supply failure, manual unlocking is allowed to unlock the HV connectors (104, 108). The system (100) enhances safety by automating the decoupling process and providing a manual override in critical conditions.
