Abstract: A precision motion control apparatus for two-dimensional plotting is described, featuring a controller for interpreting toolpath commands and motor drivers for actuating stepper motors. The 10 apparatus includes a mechanical frame for guiding linear motion along multiple axes, with stepper motors moving a tool-carrying carriage via a belt-driven transmission mechanism. A microcontroller unit executes motion control firmware to parse commands, calculate trajectories, and generate coordinated pulse sequences in real-time. The system also includes microstepping motor drivers with integrated step translators and active thermal management circuitry, stepper motors with 15 defined angular step resolution and holding torque capacity, and an auxiliary servo actuator for a secondary axis. The modular structural frame comprises linear guide rods and additively manufactured components, while the motion transmission system uses toothed pulleys, a timing belt, and linear bearings to minimize friction. The apparatus achieves a geometric error margin below 0.1% and positional drift within 0.05 millimeters over multiple cycles.
