Abstract: ABSTRACT A high-energy solid-state supercapacitor system comprising carbon quantum dot (CQD) electrodes embedded in an alkali-activated geopolymer-biopolymer composite matrix is disclosed. Nitrogen-doped CQDs synthesized from ascorbic acid and urea via microwave-assisted synthesis (700–800 W, 3–5 min) at 5–10 wt% loading provide specific capacitance of 200–400 F/g through combined double-layer and pseudocapacitance. A PVA-PAA interpenetrating polymer network (IPN) within geopolymer pores achieves ionic conductivity of 10^-3 to 10^-2 S/cm through three-mode ion transport and self-healing crosslinking enabling 100,000–500,000 cycles. NaHCO3 creates controlled mesoporosity (47.7% to 77.8% mesopore ratio), enhances Na+ conductivity, and provides 140–450 Wh/kg active cooling via endothermic decomposition. A novel Four-Mode Thermal Defense integrates SiC heat spreading (350+ W/m.K), geopolymer thermal inertia (~2.4 MJ/m3.K), NaHCO3 endothermic cooling, and PVA char/CO2 gas shield fire suppression—requiring zero external power. Bipolar stack architecture with carbon-loaded ECAP plates eliminates current collectors. A 1 GW system comprises 1,000 x 1 MW modules in 20 ft ISO containers (576S x 4P, ~2,304 cells each) with 33 kV grid connection, providing frequency regulation ( 1 ms response), voltage support, and 20+ year service life at -40 deg C to +65 deg C operating range.
