Abstract: Abstract HIGH-EFFICIENCY TOTEM-POLE POWER FACTOR CORRECTION CONVERTER FOR ELECTRIC VEHICLE CHARGING AND METHOD OF OPERATING THEREOF The present disclosure relates to a high-efficiency totem-pole power factor correction (PFC) converter system (200) for an electric vehicle charger. The system comprises an Alternating Current (AC) input (202), a boost inductor (206), a totem pole switching network (212), a DC-link capacitor (214), voltage (208) and current sensors (210), and a digital controller (220). The switching network comprises a high-frequency switching leg (212A) including MOSFETs or gallium nitride (GaN) transistors for pulse-width modulated boost switching and a low-frequency commutation leg (212B) including silicon-controlled rectifiers (SCRs) or SCR MOSFET arrangement for polarity-based commutation. The digital controller (220) detects zero-crossing conditions using voltage and current information, applies adaptive dead-time control, and regulates pulse-width modulation operation. Further, the controller coordinates operation with a downstream DC-DC converter (216) based on battery charging information to provide efficient electric vehicle charging.
