Abstract: The present invention relates to providing High Alumina low cement castable having high spalling resistance combined with high volume stability for use as refractory lining of reheating furnace door as well as tuyere stock of blast furnace and in particular related to development of its formulation. The High Alumina low cement castable have high spalling resistance by the way of having spalling resistance of pre-fired (at 13000C for 3 hours) sample at 10000C for 15 minutes and quenching in flowing water Cycles of 25 and high strength by the way of having Cold Crushing Strength (CCS )of 500 kg/cm2 after 1100C/ 24 hours; and 1200 kg/cm2 after treatment at 13000C/ 3hours; and Bulk Density (BD)of 2.70 gm/cc after treatment at 1100C for 24 hours and a Bulk Density (BD) of 2.65 gm/cc after treatment at 13000C for 3hoursand high volume stability by way of Permanent linear change (PLC) of ± 0.50% after treatment at 13000C for 3 hours.
