Abstract: ABSTRACT Hierarchical Multi-Agent System for Detection and Validation of Dark Patterns in User Interfaces The present invention relates to artificial intelligence systems for regulatory compliance and digital ethics and, more particularly, to a hierarchical multi- agent artificial intelligence system for automated detection, validation, compliance assessment, and reporting of deceptive user interface designs, commonly referred to as dark patterns. The system acquires session information including screenshots, HTML Document Object Model (DOM) structures, rendered webpage content, network activity logs, user interaction data, and user intent information. A parent categorizer agent performs multimodal analysis using computer vision and natural language processing techniques, while a routing engine distributes analytical tasks to specialized detection agents configured to identify different categories of dark patterns. Detection outputs are validated through a consensus-based validation framework employing a plurality of large language models. A compliance scoring engine generates compliance assessments, and a report generation module produces explainable reports comprising supporting evidence and remediation recommendations. Human feedback is incorporated to enable continuous improvement of analytical performance. The invention provides scalable, explainable, and adaptive assessment of deceptive user interfaces.
