The application for the patent was published on October 09, 2026, under issue no. 41/2026.

Abstract: ABSTRACT A herbal mucoadhesive buccal patch comprises a standardized extract of Jatipatradi Yoga derived from equal quantities of Jati Patra (Jasminum grandiflorum), Guduchi (Tinospora cordifolia), Draksha (Vitis vinifera), Daruharidra (Berberis aristata), Yavasa (Alhagi camelorum), Madhu (Apis mellifera), and Triphala, incorporated into a mucoadhesive polymer matrix comprising Hydroxypropyl Methylcellulose (HPMC) with mannitol as a plasticizer and sodium benzoate as a preservative. The patch exhibits a surface pH of 5.6, thickness of 1.2 mm, folding endurance of 24 cycles, elongation of 92%, weight of 0.94 g, and loss on drying of 1.63%. The patch demonstrates rapid initial adhesion (10.20 seconds) and prolonged retention (11.86 minutes) on buccal mucosa. Gas Chromatography-Mass Spectrometry analysis confirms oleic acid as the dominant constituent at 38.5% relative abundance. The patch exhibits antibacterial activity with zones of inhibition of 15 mm against Staphylococcus aureus and 24 mm against Streptococcus pyogenes. Clinical evaluation demonstrates significantly enhanced therapeutic efficacy over conventional Jatipatradi Kashaya Gandusha therapy for management of Mukhapaaka (aphthous ulcers), oral mucositis, and inflammatory oral mucosal lesions. The present disclosure relates to the field of pharmaceutical formulations, mucoadhesive drug delivery systems, and oral healthcare compositions, and more particularly to a herbal mucoadhesive buccal patch comprising a standardized Jatipatradi Yoga extract formulated for localized, sustained, and controlled delivery of therapeutic phytoconstituents directly to the oral mucosa for management of Mukhapaaka (aphthous ulcers), oral ulcerative lesions, oral mucositis, and inflammatory conditions of the oral mucosa, and to a standardized, reproducible, and scalable method of manufacturing the mucoadhesive buccal patch using a solvent casting technique.
