Abstract: Acne vulgaris is one of the most prevalent chronic inflammatory disorders of the pilosebaceous unit, primarily caused by excessive sebum production, follicular hyperkeratinization, bacterial colonization, and inflammation. The increasing incidence of antimicrobial resistance and adverse effects associated with synthetic anti- acne agents has created a demand for safer and more effective herbal alternatives. The present study was undertaken to formulate and evaluate a herbal anti-acne cream containing Senna auriculata flower extract, a medicinal plant known for its antimicrobial, anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, and wound-healing properties. The ethanolic extract of Senna auriculata flowers was incorporated into a cream base using suitable pharmaceutical excipients and formulated in different concentrations. The prepared formulations were evaluated for various physicochemical parameters including appearance, homogeneity, pH, spreadability, viscosity, washability, skin irritancy, and stability. The optimized formulation was further assessed for antibacterial activity against acne-associated microorganisms and anti-inflammatory potential. Fourier Transform Infrared (FTIR) spectroscopy was employed to characterize the functional groups present in the extract and to investigate the compatibility between the herbal extract and formulation excipients.
