Abstract: ABSTRACT A smart gingival retraction cord termed "HerbaCordTM" is disclosed. The invention comprises a braided or knitted dental retraction cord impregnated with natural herbal hemostatic agents and a color-responsive indicator system. The herbal component comprises Lodhra (Symplocos racemosa) and Catechu (Acacia catechu), which provide hemostatic action through tannin-mediated protein precipitation and capillary constriction. The indicator component comprises anthocyanin- based natural pigments derived from botanical sources capable of exhibiting visible color changes in response to blood, moisture, and pH alterations within the gingival sulcus. The cord simultaneously provides gingival displacement, bleeding control, and real-time visual assessment of hemostatic status during restorative and prosthodontic procedures. The invention is biocompatible, cost-effective, easy to use, and suitable for routine clinical applications. /html
