The application for the patent was published on October 02, 2026, under issue no. 40/2026.

Abstract: The invention is an attachment to be built in for motorcycle helmets to catch and deflect high-tension kite wires (manjha) that pose a severe hazard to riders especially during the festive seasons. Several accidents have been reported where riders have sustained life threatening neck injuries and in few cases death due to cut throats due to these kite wires hanging across streets that are difficult to spot. The invention is unique as it focuses on a very niche scenario to make riding motorcycles safer by deflecting the kite wires away from the riders’ neck and also catching it using a hook like defense mechanism. To maintain user convenience, the apparatus incorporates a retraction assembly allowing the deflection wire to be deployed during risky conditions and stored in housing when not in use. It addresses both head-on impacts and bottom-up sliding of the wires towards the neck.
