Abstract: 7. ABSTRACT The present invention relates to a hydraulic-actuated permanent magnet radial chuck (100) for selectively clamping and releasing ferromagnetic workpieces during machining operations. The chuck (100) comprises a top plate (1) forming a work-holding surface, a cage (2) housing radially arranged permanent magnets, and a rotating plate (3) enclosed within a body (4). A helix shaft (5), secured by a lock washer (6), is operatively coupled to the rotating plate (3). Spacers (7) maintain axial alignment of internal components. An adapter shaft (8), an adapter to helix shaft (9), and an adapter to cylinder shaft (10) mechanically connect a hydraulic cylinder (11) to the helix shaft (5). Linear motion generated by the hydraulic cylinder (11) is converted by the helix shaft (5) into rotational displacement, causing the cage (2) to rotate relative to the top plate (1). Such rotation selectively aligns or misaligns the permanent magnets to establish or interrupt magnetic flux for secure engagement or release of the workpiece without continuous power consumption.
