MUMBAI, India, Aug. 24 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202641098488 A) filed by Vellore Institute Of Technology, Chennai on August 14, 2026, for Head-Mounted Vision Enhancement And Retractable Display System.
Inventors include Saranyaraj D; and J Tharuneswar.
The application for the patent was published on August 21, 2026, under issue no. 34/2026.
Abstract: A system (102) for vision enhancement and retractable display includes a sensing unit (104) having an optical camera unit (104-1) and a smoke sensor (104-2), a retractable display actuation unit (106) having a micro-display (106-1), a servo motor (106-2), and a linear track mechanism (106-3), and a control unit (108) within a housing (118) on a head-mounted support structure. The control unit (108) receives video data and a particulate concentration value, performs video enhancement to generate an enhanced video feed, performs image-based human form detection to generate a detection overlay indicating detected human forms or obstacles, and transmits the enhanced video feed with the detection overlay to the micro-display (106-1). Upon the particulate concentration value exceeding a predetermined threshold, the control unit (108) actuates the servo motor (106-2) to displace the micro-display (106-1) from a stowed position outside a field of view to a deployed position within the field of view.
