Abstract: A fibre composition, a fragrant handmade paper and a method of production are disclosed. The composition comprises, by weight of fibre solids, recycled flower-petal fibre from discarded petals such as temple rose offerings at forty to sixty percent, a strengthening cotton-rag or recycled-paper fibre at twenty-five to forty percent, optionally a natural plant fibre at five to fifteen percent, and a natural binder such as starch or gum at two to five percent. The short, weak petal fibre and the strengthening fibre cooperate so that the strengthening fibre carries the load while the petal fibre embeds fragrance and texture, giving a fragrant, biodegradable, sufficiently strong paper without synthetic perfume. The paper is made by segregating, washing and pulping the petals, combining them with the strengthening fibre and binder, forming sheets on a mould and deckle, pressing, and ambient drying to retain the fragrance.
