Abstract: The present invention discloses to a handheld walking device configured to assist navigation of visually impaired individuals by providing real-time obstacle detection and non-visual feedback. The device comprises a control unit (1), a sensing unit (2) configured as an ultrasonic sensor for detecting obstacles at variable distances, an actuation unit (3) for generating proximity-based haptic feedback, and an alert unit (4) for producing audio and visual alerts under critical proximity conditions. A power unit (5) supplies low-voltage electrical energy to the device and includes reverse polarity protection. The control unit (1) processes reflected ultrasonic signals received from the sensing unit (2) to compute obstacle distance using time-of-flight principles and actuates the actuation unit (3) and the alert unit (4) based on predefined threshold values. The device operates in a continuous sensing and feedback cycle without reliance on external connectivity, ensuring low power consumption, portability, and reliable indoor and outdoor operation for independent navigation by visually impaired users.
