Abstract: Title: Handheld Device for Real-Time Structural Crack Volume Estimation A handheld device for real-time crack volume estimation comprises an imaging unit, a depth sensing unit, an embedded processing module, a display interface, and a wireless communication module. The imaging unit captures images of structural cracks, while the depth sensing unit acquires corresponding depth information. The embedded processing module performs crack detection, geometric feature extraction, sensor fusion, and segment-wise crack modelling to determine crack width, length, depth, and orientation. The device computes the volume of individual crack segments and aggregates the segment volumes to estimate the total crack volume in real time. The computed results are displayed on the device and transmitted wirelessly to external devices. Based on the estimated crack volume, the device further determines the quantity of repair or filling material required for structural maintenance. It provides a portable, non-destructive, and automated solution for three-dimensional crack characterization, quantitative crack volume estimation, and maintenance planning for civil infrastructure.
