Abstract: A hand-operated asparagus peeling cum thread removing machine is disclosed, comprising a mild steel Frame (08) assembly housing three sequentially arranged sets of spring-loaded rollers — Peeling Rollers (07), Guiding Rollers (04), and Thread Removing Rollers (01) — together with an adjustable iris-type peeling eye and a belt-and-pulley manual power transmission system driven by a handle. The machine operates on two fundamental mechanical principles: shearing by Blade (11) against root surface for peeling, and deep scoring and pulling for thread removal. The Peeling Rollers (07) grip asparagus roots of diameter 1 mm to 15 mm and score the surface longitudinally and circumferentially; the peeling eye, adjustable from 1 mm to 18 mm aperture via a lever-operated twelve- Blade (11) iris mechanism, strips the peel by rubbing action; the Guiding Rollers (04) convey and further score the peeled root; and the Thread Removing Rollers (01) score the flesh deeply enabling manual thread extraction. All rollers are aluminium-bodied with stainless-steel Blade (11)s on splined mild steel Shafts (09).
