Abstract: This project presents a hand gesture recognition system designed specifically for interactive art installations using sensor-based technology. By employing motion and flex sensors such as accelerometers, gyroscopes, and flex resistors the system captures dynamic hand gestures and translates them into control signals for real-time interaction. These sensors are integrated into a wearable glove or mounted on a platform to detect finger bends, orientation, and motion patterns. The data collected from the sensors is processed using an Artificial Neural Network (ANN), which is trained to classify a predefined set of gestures accurately. The recognized gestures trigger visual, auditory, or mechanical changes in the art installation, allowing users to manipulate colors, shapes, sounds, or movement with intuitive gestures. This approach eliminates the need for physical touch or traditional interfaces, making the experience more accessible and hygienic especially in public settings. The system is also designed to be scalable and adaptable to different forms of interactive art, including projections, robotic sculptures, and mixed-reality environments. This gesture- controlled interaction enhances user engagement and expands the creative possibilities for artists and designers. The project demonstrates how sensor-based gesture recognition can bridge technology and art, offering a novel medium of expression.
