Abstract: The present invention relates to a guava leaf extract formulation specifically designed for the treatment of mouth ulcers, belonging to the technical field of pharmaceutical compositions for oral care. The formulation comprises an active ingredient derived from Psidiumguajava, which includes bioactive compounds such as flavonoids, tannins, and saponins. These compounds are incorporated into a gel base formulated with biocompatible polymers or gelling agents, serving as a carrier medium for the guava leaf extract. The formulation further includes preservatives to prevent microbial growth, pH adjusters to maintain a safe and comfortable pH for oral application, and flavoring agents to enhance taste and acceptability. The guava leaf extract is optimized for prolonged ulcer contact, with a gel base enabling sustained active release.The formulation's efficacy is tested on a rat model with induced mouth ulcers treated using guava leaf extract gel.
