MUMBAI, India, Oct. 5 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202614023135 A) filed by Illinois Tool Works Inc. on February 26, 2026, for Grommet And Fastening Assembly.

Inventors include Kanie, Hideki; and Zhang, Zhongxin.

The application for the patent was published on October 02, 2026, under issue no. 40/2026.

Abstract: The present disclosure provides a grommet and a fastening assembly. The grommet includes a body, a head, and at least one resilient arm. Each of the at least one resilient arm extends from an inner surface of one of a first or a second wall portion and is at least partially deflectable toward and away from an axis. The present disclosure provides deflectable resilient arms to form a portion of the contact surfaces of the grommet for contacting the fastener. When the fastener is inserted into the receiving passageway of the grommet, the outward deflection of the resilient arms reduces the driving torque required for inserting the fastener. Furthermore, after the fastener is assembled in place in the receiving passageway of the grommet, the receiving passageway jointly formed by the resilient arms and the inner surface of the grommet can provide sufficient retention torque for the 15 fastener. Therefore, even when the overall size of the grommet is relatively small, the grommet is not easily damaged, thereby ensuring that the fastener assembly securely connects the first component and the second component.
