Abstract: Disclosed herein is a grinding wheel mounting assembly for vertical-spindle grinding machines, comprising a crane mounting structure 102 with a longitudinally movable saddle 108, jib hoist 104 with adjustable chain 110, and wire rope/chain arrangement 112 engaging swivel hooks 114 on a wheel flange 116. The wheel flange 116 carries tapped holes 122 for spindle bolts 124, a locating hole 126 for a locating pin 128, and an internal diameter adapted to the tapered edge of the vertical spindle 120 for guided engagement. A grinding wheel 118 is secured to the flange, and the swivel hooks provide balanced, self-locking lifting. The method enables pre- assembly, controlled lifting, guided spindle insertion, automatic hole alignment, bolt fastening, and safe unloading. The system reduces manual effort, improves safety, maintains wheel orientation, and enables single-operator wheel replacement with minimal risk of damage.
