Abstract: The present invention relates to a grid-supported solar water pumping system for agricultural applications. The system comprises a solar photovoltaic array coupled to a DC–DC converter operating under maximum power point tracking control, a regulated DC-link formed by a DC-link capacitor, and a single-phase grid interface implemented using a canonical switching cell–based bridgeless power factor corrected AC–DC converter. A single-phase voltage source inverter supplied from the DC- link drives a brushless DC motor mechanically coupled to a water pump. An electronic control unit is configured to regulate the DC-link voltage within a predetermined tolerance band under variations in solar irradiance, grid voltage, and pumping load, and to shape the grid input current to be substantially sinusoidal and in phase with the grid voltage, thereby achieving high power factor and low total harmonic distortion. The electronic control unit may include an adaptive or neuro-fuzzy based controller to improve dynamic response and robustness. The system supports solar-only, grid-only, and hybrid operating modes and provides improved efficiency, reduced component stress, and enhanced reliability for continuous water pumping.
