MUMBAI, India, Sept. 14 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202611086408 A) filed by Chandigarh University on July 15, 2026, for Green Synthesized Rgo-Sro-Pvp Nanocomposite For Enhanced Photocatalytic Degradation Of Organic Pollutants.
Inventors include Uma Koul; Ruchi Bharti; and Renu Sharma.
The application for the patent was published on September 11, 2026, under issue no. 37/2026.
Abstract: The present invention relates to a green and energy-efficient method for synthesizing a reduced graphene oxide-strontium oxide-polyvinylpyrrolidone (rGO-SrO-PVP) nanocomposite using Kalanchoe pinnata leaf extract as a dual reducing and stabilizing agent. The one-pot synthesis process eliminates the use of hazardous reducing chemicals and high-temperature processing while producing uniformly dispersed cubic SrO nanoparticles on reduced graphene oxide sheets within a PVP matrix. The resulting nanocomposite exhibits enhanced structural stability, improved charge-carrier separation, mesoporous morphology, and reduced nanoparticle agglomeration, thereby significantly enhancing photocatalytic activity. Under ultraviolet irradiation, the nanocomposite demonstrates rapid degradation of bromophenol blue through efficient generation of reactive oxygen species and suppression of electron–hole recombination. The invention provides a scalable, environmentally sustainable, and cost-effective approach for preparing multifunctional hybrid photocatalysts suitable for wastewater treatment, degradation of organic pollutants, and other environmental remediation applications.
