Abstract: Solar panels installed in outdoor environments suffer measurable losses in light transmittance and power output due to the progressive accumulation of dust and organic soiling on their surfaces. While titanium dioxide (TiO2) is recognized for its photocatalytic and hydrophilic self-cleaning properties, its wide band gap confines this activity to the ultraviolet range, and its conventional synthesis typically relies on hazardous chemical reagents. This invention presents a green synthesis method for producing zinc-doped titanium dioxide (Zn-TiO2) nanoparticles using plant-derived extracts as natural reducing and capping agents in place of toxic chemical reductants. The synthesized nanoparticles are formulated into a coatable suspension and applied as a thin nanocoating on solar panel glass surfaces.
