MUMBAI, India, Oct. 5 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202611101535 A) filed by Chandigarh University on August 22, 2026, for Gravity-Driven Modular Greywater Reuse System With Spiral Separation And Bio-Layered Filtration.

Inventors include Deepak Kumar; and Shaman Sharma.

The application for the patent was published on October 02, 2026, under issue no. 40/2026.

Abstract: The present invention relates to a gravity-driven modular greywater reuse system (100) for treating and reusing domestic greywater for agricultural applications. The system 5 comprises a cylindrical tank structure (101), a tangential greywater inlet pipe (104), a spiral flow path (105), a settled solids zone (106), a bio-layered filtration bed (109), and a treated-water outlet (111). Greywater entering through the inlet pipe (104) follows the spiral flow path (105), wherein reduced flow velocity facilitates gravitational settling of suspended solids. The greywater subsequently passes through layers of biochar, sand and gravel in the 10 bio-layered filtration bed (109) for filtration and conditioning. Treated water is discharged through the treated-water outlet (111) for irrigation. A central elevation chimney (107) with mist dispersal openings (108) provides passive moisture dispersal, while an optional gas outlet extension (113) facilitates gas redirection.
