Inventors include Dr. Prafull Pandurang Vashenikar; Mr. Ravindra Dhondu Morbekar; and Dr. Yashwant Harishchandra Ulvekar.

The application for the patent was published on July 24, 2026, under issue no. 30/2026.

Abstract: The present invention relates to a gravity and solar based smart irrigation system for rural agriculture designed to provide efficient, automated, and sustainable irrigation with minimal dependence on conventional electricity. The system integrates solar panels, a rechargeable battery, a microcontroller-based smart control unit, soil moisture sensors, water level sensors, and an elevated water storage tank for gravity-assisted water distribution. The smart control unit continuously monitors soil moisture conditions and automatically controls irrigation through valves or low-power pumps based on predefined moisture levels. The elevated water tank enables gravity-driven water flow, thereby reducing energy consumption and operational costs. The system conserves water, minimizes manual labor, and supports environmentally friendly agricultural practices. The invention is particularly suitable for rural and remote farming areas with limited electricity infrastructure and provides a cost-effective solution for improving irrigation efficiency and crop productivity.
