MUMBAI, India, Aug. 17 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202641095206 A) filed by Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham on August 06, 2026, for Graphics-Processing-Unit-Accelerated Stitching And Rendering Of Panoramic Frames.

Inventors include Nair, Adarsh Reji; Gopalakrishnan, Uma; and Hariharan, Balaji.

The application for the patent was published on August 14, 2026, under issue no. 33/2026.

Abstract: The present disclosure provides high-throughput panoramic video stitching and low-latency rendering. The system (100) includes a multi-camera rig (102) capturing a plurality of video streams, a host processor (104) computing one or more transformation parameters (106), and a graphics processing unit (110). At least one Pixel Buffer Object (112) streams frames into a video memory (110-2) through a persistent and coherent buffer storage of OpenGL (112-2) under a single mapping persisting across the plurality of video streams (112-4). An OpenGL compute shader (110-4) applies the transformation parameters (106) and computes a warp (110-4A) and an average blending operator (110-4B) directly within the video memory (110-2). The OpenGL compute shader (110-4) generates a stitched panoramic frame in a graphics-processing-unit-resident output buffer (110-6) for a display (114). Unlike hybrid API arrangements, this approach utilizes a sole context and zero-copy workflow to deliver consistent panoramic output tailored to high-resolution real-time environments.
