Inventors include Nazreen Tabassum; Rizwan Ahamad; Prof. Dr. Mohd Aqil; Prof. Dr. Mohd Mujeeb; Dr. Mohammad Mateen Zehgeer; and Dr. Shahbaz Khan.

The application for the patent was published on August 28, 2026, under issue no. 35/2026.

Abstract: The present invention relates to a novel glycosome drug delivery system comprising glycyrrhizic acid functioning as a natural surfactant, stabilizing agent, and absorption enhancer for oral delivery of therapeutic agents. Glycyrrhizic acid, owing to its amphiphilic nature, facilitates the formation of stable nanovesicular structures with enhanced membrane integrity and resistance to gastrointestinal degradation. The developed system exhibits improved drug encapsulation efficiency, controlled release behavior, and enhanced intestinal permeation, thereby significantly increasing oral bioavailability. Additionally, glycyrrhizic acid imparts synergistic bioactive properties including anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, hepatoprotective, and neuroprotective effects. The invention encompasses a pharmaceutical composition and method of preparation suitable for delivering a wide range of bioactive molecules including poorly soluble and labile drugs. The glycyrrhizic acid-based glycosomal system represents a versatile and efficient platform for oral drug delivery.
