MUMBAI, India, Aug. 31 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202621084256 A) filed by Shrutika Romeshwar Kamble on July 09, 2026, for Gis-Based Groundwater Recharge Site Identification Tool.

Inventor includes Shrutika Romeshwar Kamble.

The application for the patent was published on August 28, 2026, under issue no. 35/2026.

Abstract: The present invention relates to a Geographic Information System (GIS)-based software system and method for identifying suitable groundwater recharge zones through integrated analysis of multiple thematic spatial layers. The system acquires geospatial datasets including geological, geomorphological, soil, land use, slope, elevation, drainage density, lineament density, rainfall, groundwater, and infiltration information from multiple sources. The datasets are standardized, validated, and classified into recharge suitability categories before being processed through a configurable multi-criteria decision analysis engine. Weighted spatial overlay and suitability computation are performed to generate groundwater recharge suitability indices for individual spatial units. Candidate recharge zones are automatically identified, prioritized, and visualized through interactive GIS maps and analytical reports containing geographic coordinates, suitability scores, and recommended recharge structures. The invention provides an automated, scalable, and scientifically consistent decision-support platform for groundwater recharge planning and management across diverse hydrogeological regions.
