Abstract: ABSTRACT The present invention relates to a gingival protection device designed to minimize soft tissue injury during dental procedures involving rotary instrumentation. The device comprises a thin, flexible, disc-shaped shield fabricated from medical-grade polypropylene, configured to surround a prepared tooth. It features a central opening adapted to fit around the tooth structure, along with a radial flexible slit that allows easy placement and removal without excessive manipulation of gingival tissues. An integrated handle tab facilitates precise positioning and retrieval during clinical use. The shield, with a thickness ranging from 0.3 mm to 0.5 mm, provides an effective mechanical barrier against accidental contact between rotary burs and gingival tissues, thereby reducing trauma, bleeding, and postoperative discomfort. The device is disposable, ensuring optimal infection control. This invention offers a simple, cost-effective, and efficient solution to enhance safety, visibility, and operator control during procedures such as crown preparation, veneer preparation, and finishing of restorations.
