MUMBAI, India, Aug. 31 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202641099009 A) filed by Mr. Sudheer Choudari on August 17, 2026, for Geopolymer Composite Material For Durable And Sustainable Civil Construction.

Inventor includes Mr. Sudheer Choudari.

The application for the patent was published on August 28, 2026, under issue no. 35/2026.

Abstract: Geopolymer concrete (GPC) is a concrete variant that is distinguished by its increased resilience against acid corrosion, thermal fluctuations, and freeze-thaw cycles in comparison to conventional Portland cement (OPC) concrete. This variant utilises alkali- activated substances, such as metakaolin and slag. The durability and mechanical properties of GPC are enhanced by the compact microstructure that is produced thru the geopolymerization process. Geopolymer concrete (GPC) is a novel substance in the construction industry that is distinguished by a variety of chemical compositions and reactions that contribute to its binding properties. The production of geopolymer composites, a novel and environmentally friendly alternative to traditional Portland cement concrete, involves the polymerisation of a variety of industrial byproducts, including fly ash, powdered granulated blast furnace slag, silica fume, and rice husk ash, using highly alkaline solutions. In the composition, pozzolanic substances (including fly ash, ground granulated blast furnace slag (GGBFS), and rice husk ash) function as binding agents due to their elevated levels of alumina and silica. Geopolymer concrete is thermally resilient, cost-effective, energy-efficient, environmentally sustainable, long-lasting, and readily manipulable. Additionally, it is devoid of cement. GPC reduces carbon emissions by employing industrial solid byproducts, including rice husk ash, fly ash, and slag. For each metric tonne of cement produced, approximately one metric tonne of carbon dioxide emissions is produced, which directly pollutes the environment and contributes to global warming by increasing greenhouse gas levels. GPC has proven to be effective for structural applications due to its comparable strength and manipulability to traditional cement concrete. This review article investigates the engineering characteristics and microstructure of GPC, emphasising its benefits in construction applications and offering suggestions for both academia and industry
