MUMBAI, India, Nov. 2 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202641126785 A) filed by Vellore Institute Of Technology on October 24, 2026, for Geometry-Aware Directional Menstrual Pre-Leakage Monitoring Undergarment With Sectorized Rescue Absorption.

Inventors include Gemini V Joy; and Bhadra Balraj.

The application for the patent was published on October 30, 2026, under issue no. 44/2026.

Abstract: A menstrual leakage-risk monitoring undergarment system (100) includes a reusable undergarment (110) having a gusset (114), a spatial sensing array (120) positioned below a replaceable menstrual absorbent article (130), and a passive boundary-registration structure (136) associated with the replaceable menstrual absorbent article (130). A controller (140) acquires boundary observations to construct a current pad-boundary map (150), reconstructs the current pad-boundary map (150) based on detected movement, rotation, or boundary-geometry change, and independently acquires spatial fluid-responsive measurements to construct a fluid-front map (152). The controller (140) registers the maps in a common current coordinate frame (182), determines a shortest registered in-plane containment distance (158), and identifies a directional sector (184) corresponding to the shortest distance. Separate boundary-map and fluid-front confidence conditions are determined, and a direction-coded warning is generated when respective confidence criteria and a spatial risk condition are satisfied.
