Abstract: The present invention relates to a reconfigurable specimen adaptor termed the Geofeature Relocator and an associated rigid-body coordinate transformation methodology for correlative optical petrographic and scanning electron microscopy of geological thin sections. The adaptor is fabricated from electrically conductive material and incorporates L-shaped locating surfaces providing a permanent mechanical reference origin and removable mounting pins enabling dual-mode operation on optical microscope stages and scanning electron microscope specimen holders. A one-time calibration establishes translation offsets and rotation angle between the two microscope coordinate systems. During routine use, optical microscope coordinates are automatically transformed to predict scanning electron microscope positions using the combined translation-rotation equations. Experimental validation demonstrates average relocation deviations of 0.201 millimetres with root mean square error of 0.230 millimetres across four validation p
